Two hole Shirt Button. Lozenge shaped, a small, drilled button for use on shirts. It is 9/16" in diameter.
18th Century Buttons. B316, coat button, lugged, 7/8" diameter; B317, a vest button, is lugged and 9/16" in diameter;
Wagon Wheel Button. A "civilian" button of the 17th & 18th centuries, this one is lugged and is 7/8" in diameter.
Welsh Dragon Button. A lugged button 3/4" in diameter.
Knotted Rope Buttons. Ropes tied in knots, both are lugged and B348 is 3/4" in diameter and B349 is 9/16" in diameter.
Now something for all you Lewis and Clark types. The five buttons that follow are authentic for the period of approximately 1790 through 1815 and the United States 1 has been listed as the button worn on the uniforms of the Lewis and Clark Voyage of Discovery.
The United States 1 button in two sizes. This button has been found in two sizes, the larger at 7/8 inch and the smaller at 5/8 inch. Our buttons so as not to be misrepresented are 15/16 and 11/16 inches in diameter respectively. They have a large "U" shaped lug.
United States 2, a 24mm button in service from about 1790 until 1815.
United States 6, a 26mm button in service from 1790 until 1815.
United States 15, a 24mm button in service from 1790 until 1815.
Dog Triskele Cape Latch, closed with a medium weight chain each side is 1-1/2" in diameter.
Knot Work Cape Latch, closed with medium weight chain, each side is 1-3/8" in diameter.
Line Triskele Cape Latch, each side is 1-1/2" in diameter.
Leaf Triskele Cape Latch, each side is 1-3/4" in diameter. The cape latches shown here all have a heavy lug on the backs and a chain is connected to one side and then looped over the other to close the latch.
Striped Button. This button is a "civilian" type of the 17th & 18th centuries. It is lugged and is 11/16" in diameter.
