Weaving

We do both Finger Weaving and Inkle Weaving. We prefer the Finger Weaving products and normally carry them in both synthetics (to hold down costs) and wools (the traditional material).

Our Finger Woven items can be made to order.  You pick the pattern, colors, the materials, and approximate size. We will start the project in sequence of order receipt. We will let you know when the project will begin and will require a 50% deposit for the project.  Once begun, a normal sash takes about 2 to 3 weeks to finish, a strap or pair of "gaiters" will take about 1-1/2 to 2 weeks.

Costs vary depending upon size, pattern complexity, and fiber. The wider and more complex the pattern the more the cost. All cost are based upon an hourly rate (minimum wage) plus the cost of the materials used.

Patterns normally available are stripes, chevrons, and lightning bolts.  Most of these patterns can be doubled or tripled to achieve different affects.  On the following pages we have pictured a few of the different patterns.

Inkle Loom Work

Inkle work is done on a called for basis and is not normally in stock. An Inkle project will take from 2 to 4 weeks depending on the complexity and size and can be done with either the wools or the synthetics. Please contact us for additional details. The time and pricing are the same as for the finger weaving.  Most of the Inkle work is in the form of straps for powder horns or "possible's" bags. We also make our own Inkle Looms, so if you want one and can not find one, please give us a call and we can talk about building what you want.
