CS1120........ $10.00..........Celtic Trade Cross
This cross is a replica of a cross originally made by Mr. Walt Miller. Mr. Miller is a well known silversmith in the world of "Buckskinning." This cross is an exact replica and carries Mr. Miller's initials on the cross. It is typical of the style of crosses traded and worn during the early part of the North American Fur Trade Era.
It measures 3-3/8 by 2".

This style is representative of the Celtic Crosses of Ireland and Scotland originating prior to the time of Christ. It is 1-3/4 by 1".

CR1139 ......... $8.75.............Early Orthodox Crucifix
This crucifix is a replica of a very early Orthodox Crucifix. The bones at the foot of the cross represent the bones of Adam and all who died before Christ. This cross probably dates from the mid to late 1000's. It measures 3-1/2 by 1-7/8".

A modern design typical of crucifixes worn from the mid 1700's until the present. It measures 2-1/8 by 1-1/4".

This is a reproduction of a very old cross, reputed to have been worn by Jean d'Arc, however, we have been unable to verify this. It measures 3 by 2"

CR1160............ $6.00.............Fleur-de-lis Cross
Patterned after crosses worn by French Nobility, this is a medium sized cross. The set of four fleur-de-lis around the center suggest an item worn by the members of the Court and by well-to-do tradesmen. It would have been popular prior to the fall of the French Aristocracy. It measures 2-3/8 by 2-1/4".

Small decorative cross of no religious meaning. It is typical of crosses made for the early American Fur Trade and measures 1-1/8 by 1".

CR1180......$9.00........HBC Cross of Lorraine
A replica of an original Hudson's Bay Cross. It is about 2/3 scale. This cross was produced and traded by Hudson's Bay Company from the start of the company until interest in it declined in the mid 1800's. It is a large cross measuring 3-1/5 by 1-7/8".

CR1190........$6.00....Holy Family Cross
This cross depicts the members of Christ's family on the ends of the limbs with the "Dove of Peace" at the top. It is probably another of the crosses made and traded during the very early days of the North American Fur Trade. It is 1-15/16 by 1-11/16".

CR1199............$5.50...........Med. Irish Cross
A modern design but typical of "Irish" crosses. Embellished with a Harp and Knot Work it has arms of equal length and the "Circle of Life" around the center, something usually found on crosses of Irish design. This cross measures 1-1/16" and is symmetrical.

CR1200...........$5.00...........Sm. Irish Cross
An old design, probably ca 1600 or so, this cross has knot work on the finials and a small boss at the center. It measures 15/16" in diameter.

CR1220.........$10.00........Jesuit Cross of Lorraine
This cross is large, 4" by 1-1/2", and its design is copied from crosses carried by the Jesuit and Franciscan Monks from Spain. When these monks first came to the New World the Native Americans of the South West saw the crosses and thought them to be Dragonfly Fetishes, a powerful Spirit. The Native Peoples coveted these crosses so much that they became the most commonly traded items in the Southwest Fur Trade. Later the Indians learned the silversmith craft, early in the nineteenth century, and created their own versions.

A miniature version of the Cross above this one measures 1-1/2" by 11/16" and is often made up into earrings. It can be used as a pendant as well.

CR1222........$6.00........Jerusalem Cross
A Jerusalem cross with some evidence of Celtic influence. The information we have identifies it as a Jerusalem style cross, and with the embossing it would appear to have had a Celt involved in the original design work.
